Save Money, Get Exercise, Great Looking Lawn July 29, 2010 monty The mower works great! I have a small lawn and no need for a gas-elec mower and I decided on this mower. I have to say I am very pleased.
Love it within it's design limits July 25, 2010 P. Hardin As stated I love it. I pick it up, carry it out and start mowing. When I am done I hose it off, let it dry a bit and carry it back in the garage. The cuttings are small enough to leave down. Not to mention saving over 40 bucks(not including the free shipping from Amazon) over buying it local. I do not have a large yard, about. 5300 square feet give or take, broken up some by walk, driveway and front/back yard of course. At my job (road mechanic for a construction equipment rental chain) I deal with engines from 2 cycle up to 6 cylinder diesels so when I get home another engine is that last thing I want to see. No gas, no plugs. no fuss. As others have said keep in mind it's design limits, the type of grass you have ( I have bermuda - works great) and not for taller grass, will just roll over it so it sort of helps you to stay up with the lawn. Not any harder to push than an engine mower. was easy to put together, (just mounting the handle) bit of an odd smell (paint?) first out of the box but that fades. It free wheels when you flip the handle over for quicker non-mowing movement. I am not a "green" freak by no means but am glad to do a little bit by using this mower. And unless you are a "reel" (sorry) marathoner I would have second thoughts on using it for a large yard. It meets my needs just great and I think my neighbors are a slight bit annoyed over the ease and speed I do my lawn. Have only had it for a few months but love it so far.
Not such a great idea July 22, 2010 1sttymhmownr I bought this mower thinking it would be great for the environment, economical and fun. I used the previous reviews as a guide and went for the purchase. Big mistake. If your grass is even a bit high, you can't push the mower. We tried adjusting the settings, but that didn't really help. Either the mower is too hard to push, or the settings are too loose and the mower won't mow. And, forget about pushing it up hill, which means if you live on a slope, you have to push the mower downhill, drag it up to the top, and push it down again. Not fun. The handle is too low, which makes it difficult to keep the wheels on the ground and the tray gets clogged, constantly stopping the blade from turning. This is probably the worst $99 dollars I've ever spent. I won't even try to sell it at a yard sale because I'd be ripping off the person who was attempting to buy it. For now, this mower is only good for decorating my garage.
A good alternative July 22, 2010 David S. Heesacker (NC) Bought the Scotts 2000 reel mower because I have a fairly small yard and decided to see if a reel mower would save me the hassle of fuel/oil for a power mower. The answer is yes. Its not perfect in that it will sometimes leave a few blades of grass uncut even after several passes, but if coupled with a trimmer, its more than satisfactory.
Better than I expected July 15, 2010 Hialeah I was looking for something that would cut my grass without scaring my cats, and I found it in this lawn mower. The assembly was easy, I am a 52 year old woman, and it works great. It does not take lots of power to push it. I would recommend this product to anyone that likes to cut their grass without making noise.
