The Great States 14-inch deluxe hand-reel mower provides a clean, precise, scissor-like cut for most turf grasses -- especially for cool-season grasses such as bluegrass, fescue and rye. With a cutting width of 14 inches and a a cutting height of 1/2- to 1-1/2 inches, the mower has 8-1/2-inch diameter high impact, polymer wheels with integral molded tread. It includes a three-spider one-blade reel, an alloy steel reel, a bed knife blade, and an adjustable, three-section roller. The zinc-plated handle has plastic grips for greater comfort. Assembly is required for this unit. To assure a precise, fine cut, each American/Great States feel mower must pass inspection by cutting paper 1/3000-inch thick -- much thinner than a blade of grass. The mower weighs 19 pounds and comes with a limited 90-day warranty.

When it comes to hand-pushed reel mowers, what you want is low cost and high efficiency. That's what you get with the Great States push reel lawn mower. Though they call it their "Deluxe Hand Reel Mower," there's not much that's deluxe about it, but its simplicity is one of its nice features. When you're pushing a hand mower, fancy attachments are not what you're really after. Strength and easy maneuverability are more important, and the simplicity of the hand reel mower design, with its three height adjustment settings, allows you to do the job and get on with your weekend. The alloy steel reel and bed knife blades are sharp and strong, and, though the mower is light enough to carry, it's got enough heft for proper traction on slick grass. Assembly is easy enough--it doesn't take more than 10 minutes--and there's a limited 90-day warranty.

I was warned by several friends about buying a hand mower - mainly that it would be too hard to push - but that's not the case. More expensive than I would have thought, but definitely worth it - a good, steady little machine that will probably last forever. You have to put the handle together when it comes out of the box, but this was relatively easy even for me. The blades are sharp, the mower is easy to push, and I'm actually enjoying mowing the lawn. The only down side was a tiny metal thing that's supposed to fit into the slots to keep the handle on. One did, the other was too loose, had to adjust with a hammer and ended up using duct tape. On the whole though, am delighted.

for the money it's ok it does cut well except for dandelions just rolls over them the only real problem is the handle is to short and the handle grips wore through to metel the second time i used it. I will get new grips for it. but all in all it is ok for what i use it for.

Although small, this is a great mower. I got the mower for several reasons, the exercise, the environment, and the way a reel mower makes bermuda grass look. Over the last several years, I have changed my lawncare practices to be more environmentally friendly. I am using organic fertilizer this year and in combination with this mower, my yard looks great. It is easy to push, it goes around corners easily and overall does an excellent job. As I said, my yard is bermuda. Bermuda grass is tough and grows fast. This little mower has no trouble cutting the grass. Add Amazon's super fast shipping and it's a great deal.

I just bought this mower to replace a small electric mower. It was easy to assemble except for getting the ends of the handle into the slots on the mower. This job needed another person to hold the mower. It took about 20 min to assemble. I tried it on my 400 square foot hilly lawn and it did a beautiful job. Normally it takes about 50 min to mow the lawn with the electric mower because I had to watch for the electric cord in order not to run over it. I also had plug in the lawnmower to extension cords and then when I mowed I had to flip those cords around the mower. With the American Lawn push mower, I was able to mow the law in only 25-30 min. It was just as easy to push as the electric mower and did a great job of cutting the grass. Occasionally, the mower would get stuck on a twig, but all I had to do was back up the mower and usually the twig was dislodged. I did not try to force it. I am a 62 year old lady with arthritis and had no problems with the mower. If you have arthritis in the hands, I would recommend wearing leather gardening gloves to protect the hands when pushing the mower. I highly recommend the mower. It did a great job at a very reasonable cost.

This was the first lawn mower we had used
We were clearing the weeds by pulling out weeds by hand. Lawn grass grew high and needed to be cut.
Saw only the electric lawn mowers being used around the neighborhood
Go to see reel mower in store for size and to get used to it and then looked for reviews on Amazon and other sites
So after reading the reviews, it became clear about this mower and what it can do
So it is a manual mower and we need to use our efforts and energy to cut the lawn
And it is doing a very effective job and is very very quiet and convenient
It is not a big effort
It is a step ahead for us to GO GREEN and help environment
