This was my first mower purchase in 11 years. I was using an MTD self-propelled, which has a trusty Briggs&Stratton engine. The propulsion system gave up and it was time for a new mower. I have used Lawn-Boys in the past and have been pleased with the performance.

After the first mowing of our not-quite half acre lot, I was once again pleased with the Lawn-Boy brand. Easy start. The mower was set to mulch (3" front wheel setting, 3.5" rear) and the clippings disappeared into the lawn, no clumping or trails of grass clippings. I have yet to try the side discharge and bag. The mower noise was typical; definitely not an electric.

The Sens-a-Speed left me skeptical at the dealer. My past experience with a different manufacturer's speed matching technology was less than encouraging. However, the Lawn-Boy came through in spades. It moved at my pace and I never felt out of control with the mower. I noticed there is even an add-on for cruise control of the Sens-a-speed, although I do not expect to purchase one so long as Sens-a-speed contintues its performance. The maneuverability was great. I was surprised. The wider tires are very nice.

All of the features outlined on Lawn-Boy's website function as specified. Adjustments for just about everything. In particular the Quick Stow Lever is an excellent feature. This was more than I have ever spent on a lawnmower and at first blush it is definitely worth it. Do not hesitate to pick up a model from the Platinum series if you have it on your short-list.

This is my first season with an almost fully loaded lawn boy. The Briggs and Stratton engine starts with no choke on the first or second pull. The engine purrs like a kitten. The adjustable handle is a dream come true for a 6'5" guy. Made in the USA is a big deal for me. And the sense-a-speed is nice as well. It changes with how fast I am walking.

Well Done Toro.
