The Lawn-Boy 10642 is ready to mulch, bag, or side discharge to suit your needs. |
Easy blade height adjustments and quick starts take the "work" out of "yard work." | ReadyStart Engine and Rear-Wheel Drive for Easy Operation Thanks to its ReadyStart Briggs and Stratton 675 series engine, you won't have to worry about priming or operating the choke on the Lawn-Boy 10642. Simply turn the key and you're ready to mow.Because it's powered by rear wheel drive, the Lawn-Boy 10642 maneuvers well on irregular surfaces. Large 7-inch front wheels and 8-inch rear wheels help the Lawn-Boy 10642 run smoothly, easily gliding around turns and over obstacles in your yard Versatile Cutting System Meets Your Needs The Lawn-Boy 10642 is ready to mulch, bag, or side discharge, depending on your needs. Without the bag, the mower will mulch the grass and leaf clippings back into your lawn. Alternatively, you can collect the grass and leaf clippings directly into the bag, leaving your lawn neat and clean. For further convenience, the height of the blades is easily adjustable by setting the oversized handle grips to one of the large notches on each wheel. There are 7 different heights available between 1 and 4 inches, so you'll be sure to find the perfect setting for your lawn. Designed with You in Mind Built with you in mind, the Lawn-Boy 10642 has plenty of user-friendly features. To start, a one-piece handle increases maneuverability, and the lightweight, 20-inch steel cutting deck is perfect for mowing in tight areas. Additionally, the top-mounted bagging system makes it easy to empty and replace the bag by simply inserting or removing the grass bag handle from the two notches at the base of the mower handle. Warranty Information The Lawn-Boy 10642 Walk-Behind Mower is backed by a two-year No-Worry Warranty that offers full coverage of materials, components, and workmanship. The maintenance-free transmission and engine are also covered by a three-year Power Train Warranty.

Poor packaging and cheap battery box July 14, 2010 Mike Stofer (Des Moines, Ia, US) It arrived on its side with the battery hanging outside the box and bouncing around tethered to the wire connections. The battery box lid does not completely snap tightly closed; cheap plastic snaps. It does mow ok, but cannot cut too deep as the buildup of cut grass inside the deck freezes the blade and kills the motor. Adjusting the wheels is cumbersome. I had to file out two of the slots because they would not allow the prong to fit in and hold in place. The adjusting grips are junky and one is deformed and will not stay on. It does start easily.
Come on Lawnboy, these are little fixes that make the differnce between a good product and a lemon. Nobody wants to repair their new mower before they can even use it.
Poor self-propelled June 21, 2010 Thomas H. Lackey 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The self-propelled system on this mower is adequate on level ground but will not pull itself up a hill, The other feature that it should have is a side discharge for when you are cutting high grass.
MTD BUILT June 19, 2010 Told You So (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
MTD BUILT IT! PLASTIC DRIVE GEARS! BEST OF LUCK WITH IT! Strange how the worst mower company in history now owns all the major brands like, lawn boy, toro, several craftsmans now,cub cadet,on and on,and they just toasted the quality on them all. Soon we'll have no choice and will be buying new mowers every couple yrs. Yep' 2 yr warranty, thats about how long it will last. They know it limits!
An mtd push will last longer. The thin deck will still colapse {wheels bend outward} but it will last longer.
MTD IS THE WORST MOWER COMPANY IN HISTORY BY FAR! AVOID THEM LIKE THE AIDS!
Piece of junk mower. June 11, 2010 Omar Hossin (Saint Louis, MO, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The back wheel that had the gear to propel it fell off a few minutes after I used it. The deck was scratched, the handle was scratched. It was packaged poorly, I think the UPS dropped it. The box was all smashed and misshapen. I took it in for repair, it would have taken 2 weeks to repair it. I could not wait that long to mow my lawn. It was poorly made. The wheels looked and felt cheap. They reminded me of the wheels on a big wheels toy for kids. To say the least I would not buy another lawnboy and I suggest to all out there to not buy one either.
Good piece of equipmnt June 10, 2010 Butch (Arizona) Bought this to replace an older, heavier Craftsman. Nice little machine with lots of zip..like everyone else, the self propel lever is a little tricky to get used to but not that bad. Rear wheel drive takes a little getting used to also espcially if you are moving from one area to cut another with the machine off..rear wheel drive has a drag to it, so I lift the rear wheels off the ground, wheelbarrow fashion and then go..be careful as if the angle of the machine is to steep it will flood out and you will have to wait a few minutes to try and restart..electric start is great..happy mowing
