Great product with one small complaint August 27, 2010 David Turner (Minneapolis, MN) For the price, this is a great mower. I just bought a new home that doesn't have a lot of storage space. This mower doesn't take up much space in my storage shed. It's easy to maintain, it's quiet, and it was cheap. It seems to be of sturdy construction, and assuming I will have to get the blades sharpened, I will get several years of use out of it. That's all I wanted, and it does it well.
I have a fairly large yard. It takes me over an hour to mow the lawn. Sometimes I have to go over the same spot twice with this mower, especially when the grass is longer or thicker, but that's fine. It's an easy enough task. It requires significantly more work when cutting wet grass, but then again, traditional mowers do too. My only complaint is regarding the grass catcher attachment. It works well enough, except that the fabric of it attaches to the metal frame in part using Velcro. Velcro is about the worst possible material to have chosen to fasten the catcher to the frame. Grass will get caught in the Velcro, therefore preventing the fabric to fasten to the frame. It is quite frustrating to have to clean the grass out of it every ten minutes just to reattach the fabric back to the frame. Why Velcro? At any rate, I just modded it by adding half a dozen safety pins through the area that the Velcro attaches, and now it works great.
Aside from the one complaint, it's a great product. Considering that I only paid a hundred bucks out of pocket, have no maintenance expenses (aside from sharpening the blades), have a mower that takes up little space and is quiet, I would greatly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a little work outside.
does a pretty good job July 10, 2010 Jason C. Hinchcliffe 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Cheap and easy to put together.
Quite as to be expected.
Cuts ok, you have to make several passes if you want to catch all the stragglers. If you insist on having your lawn all the same length then I would not recommend this mower. If however you can live with a little more natural looking lawn then it fits the bill.
Made in USA! July 6, 2010 Donald C. Smith (Smyrna, GA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I simply love my Greenworks real lawnmower. Sometimes I find myself mowing the lawn more often than it needs it. The sound it makes as it slices through the grass is comforting. The quality of the cut is simply better than you can get with a power mower. The first time I used it I had the blade set too low and it simply plowed through 4 weeks of growth. Of course grass that is cut too short doesn't look good and is subject to diseases, excess thatch generally looking unheathy. I have it set up higher now and the lawn looks better than I've ever seen it. I also like the uniuque style and comfort of the handle.
Most of the manufacturers have started having their mowers made in China. In order to get a lower price they've substituted plastics where there used to be metal. The most common problem I read about a lawnmower formally made in the US is that the sprocket or gear or whatever in the blade drive is now plastic and it breaks. The Greeworks has stuck with steel. This is the only mower that I've found that has apparently made no shortcuts. It appears that Greenworks places a high value on quality, and the price is definately right.
Did I mention that it's made in the USA out of American steel?
not good for weeds! June 28, 2010 adelesbooks 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I loved this reel mower. It was easy to put together and the bag is easy to attach if I need it. Also, It is easy to mow with. The biggest downside is that it doesn't cut weeds! Dandelions sprout like mad on my lawn and the reel mower will not cut them down. It is a great mower for just grass and I would recommend it for lawns if they do not have a lot of weeds.
Greenworks 25062 18-Inch 4-Blade Push Reel Lawn Mower With Grass Catcher June 16, 2010 patriot301 (NJ, USA) I have been using this mower for around 6-8 weeks. It does a good job. The grass catcher is not much of a help because it has to be emptied periodically while you are mowing. All said and done, it is good for the environment.
